We reached Thean Hou Temple around 11.30 am. It was so crowded. Alot people register for marriage also . PS went to the registry office to get the queue number. The number we got is No. 309. While waiting, David took photo for us…

Before ROM, we went to the temple at upstair for praying.


When reach our queue no309. The officer checked and verify all the documents and gave us another no. in order to start the marriage ceremony. Unfortunately! I left my bag in CAR! My IC was inside my purse X_X . Everyone was so excited and worried, luckily ps’s brother in-law quickly run to the car park and get the IC for me…Very sorry again~ Paiseh…Owe u one meal, ok? Treat u next time when u come Singapore..Hehe ^^ .Luckily I didnt left my IC at house..else I really dont what is the consequence. If this happen, can I marry on 1003?? Luckily I am Mrs Lim Now.. It will never never happen already. Haha ^^

Yeah, I get a free magazine . The magazine has provided all the information about Wedding. Hope so the information will help us for our wedding preparation in 2011.

Finally we have finished the whole day journey. It was so tired but happy. This is so called a process I believe coming on the wedding preparation also another big task ~ PS home at Penang and my home at Selangor.and now we at Singapore. Really no idea how to prepare the wedding. But we will try our best to do the best! Hopefully everything go smoothly.

Today is a very meaningful day for me. My status and my life will be changed after 12.30pm.  The feeling to become a people’s wife is really sweet and “xinfu”. Because I feel that I was belonging to someone and someone is belonging to me ^^ . Wish that we can “White Hair till Old” this long journey life. Now I can call him “Hubby” and he can call me  ‘Ah’ Wife la!

3. My Parent, Big Brother and Sister-Inlaw, Sister, Jia Xuan, Kai Bin, Amber. Actually my niece and nephew got whole day classes on Saturday.Thanks for skipping all the classes just spent the day with me . Hehe^^.

Actually my second brother injured his back on the night before my ROM. He unable to drive and even walk…so my dear second brother, dun feel sorry to me ok . I am worry ur back more than you coming or not.

I want to thanks my Big brother who help me record so much video! Got abot 90 videos!

Thanks so much to my sister also.. She took alot photos for me as well.. She also accompany me till whole day even her skin get infected. Will be very itchy under the hot sun. But she still stand till end of ceremony. My brother in-law cant attend because of my lovely MOm’s pantang rule lo..said his brother’s baby full moon, so cant crash together..not good for us oh

For those people who cannot make it on that day, dun feel sorry OK . I understand. For those who I didnt invite, dun feel hard feeling ok Because I dont want give you guy troublesome to travel all the way to KL just to attend my ROM. No worry. Please be prepared to travel all the way to Penang for the actual wedding on 2011! wahhahha

To be continued ….ROM Part II

To know how to register for marriage in Thean Hou Gong? 

STEP 1 =>  Submit Application Form （提呈申请）

The couple must present in person and bring along the following documents:
1.1 Original and 1 photocopy of Identity Card (I.C.) (A4 size, not to be cut).
1.2 Original and 1 photocopy of Birth Certificate. (A4 size, not to be cut)
1.3 One passport-size coloured photographs each. (Instant Photos are unacceptable)
1.4 Photocopy of 2 witnesses’ I.C., 1 copy each (A4 size, not to be cut)
1.5 For widower/widow, spouse’s original and 1 photocopy of Death Certificate must be produced. For divorcee,
original and 1 photocopy of Marriage Cancellation Certificate issued by JPN must be produced.
2. Witnesses must be Malaysian Citizen above 21years old. They are not required to be present during the
submission of application.

Time for Submission of Application:
Monday to Saturday : 9:00AM – 5:00PM
Sunday / Public Holiday : Closed

Step 2 => Statutory Declaration ( 宣誓）
After filling the application form, the couple shall make a Statutory Declaration with any of Commissioner for
Oaths. All expenses relating to the oath declaration are out of concern with Marriage Registration
Department.

The Commissioner for Oaths we went to is just inside the Thean Hou Temple. We paid for RM33 for the fees of Commissioner for Oaths/processing fees and drafting of documents.

Step 3 => Submission
1. Registration date shall be fixed at least 21 days after the date of submission but must not exceeding 2
months subject to date available.
2. Fees are payable upon submission. Fee collected is not refundable.
3. Please notify the officers 3 days before the date of registration if there is request for a date change. The application
will be declared invalid as if a couple fails to turn up to register within 6 months after the date of submission.
Couples who intend to register must re-apply and re-do all the payments.

Step 4 => Verification
1. All completed application form and documents submitted by the applicant shall be verified by the Jabatan
Pendaftaran Negara (JPN) before the Registration of Marriage could be carried out.
2. Marriage Registration ONLY could be solemnized subject to Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara’s (JPN) approval.

Step 5=> REGISTRATION OF MARRIAGE
1. The couple and the 2 witnesses must be present and bring along the following documents:-
1.1 The couple’s original Identity Cards.
1.2 The couple’s original Birth Certificates.
1.3 Two witnesses original Identity Cards.
1.4 Other documents: Original copy of Father’s/Spouse Death Certificate or Marriage Cancellation Certificate
issued by JPN.
2. A ttire on the Day of Registration: The bridegroom must wear shirt with necktie. The bride and witnesses must dress
neatly or formally. T-shirt, jeans, short pants and slippers are not allowed.
3. T ime of registration: As set by our Marriage Registration Department.
4. Do not bring along children and switch off hand phones to avoid disturbances during the registration.
5. The couple and the witnesses are allowed to bring in their own cameras, flowers or rings during the ceremony.
6. The marriage ceremony is completed once the couple received their Marriage Certificates.

Time for Registration of Marriage:
Tuesday to Saturday : As set by the Marriage Registration Department

To know how much is the fee for registering and normally where to register?
There were actually alot places to do the register of marriage in Malaysia such as JPN offices in all the state, wisma MCA, Thean Hou Gong and etc. Whereas in Singapore you will need to register at ROM office ( can do online ). After you have completed the register of marriage, you will need to attend the solemnization. Below are the 3 places to do the ROM as well as solemnization which I can share with you.  Happy marriage !

1. JPN Putrajaya Selangor, Malaysia

I was highly recommended for those couple who come from same state ( I guess so must both also come from Selangor if not mistaken ). Else I will recommend you go for Option 2 or 3 - Thean Hou Temple. JPN Putrajaya is a nice place to register for marriage and the fees is cheap also. It costs only RM30. I am not so sure the exact fees because I didnt choose this place . But I am sure is < RM50. What I know also if you choose JPN Putrajaya, you can request your solemnizer speak English and request that your marriage certificate is written in English . Bare in mind also, JPN office was not opened for solemnization ceremony on weekend. It was only available on weekday~ This is one of the reason we not selected to register here

2. Thean Hou Temple KL, Malaysia ( This is the place we choose to register for marriage)

If register at goverment office… both couple must come from same state/ Else you will need to go back your own state to submit form first.  So , we want to 1 stone 2 bird! So we selected  here but the fees is really more expensive than Government office! Submission fees – RM99, Statutory Declaration – RM33. Then we got ask the officer if want to convert our Marriage cert from Malay to English, how???  The officer told me that they will help us send to JPN to do the conversion. The processing fees will be RM20.

Unfortunately, after our ROM, we planned to ask the officer to do the conversion for us, but they told that they cant do for us X_X (** then dont tell me can help us submit la~ aiyok**). So what can we do, due to my hubby want to save time, so he just went to the company in Thean Hou Temple which provided this service. But the processing fees is RM210!!!Besides that, my hubby requested them to courier our Marriage Cert to Singapore! It charged another RM30. It was so expensive for everything…! But if we didnt submit here, we will need to submit ourselves at JPN!  So What can we do, just pay and do it la ~ save time and troublesome!

Another reason we choose to register in Malaysia but not in Singapore is we dont want “PS’s family member” from Penang and “My family” member from Selangor have a long and tired journey to Singapore. And also the expenses is high in Singapore compare to Malaysia~ half of it yo .  To know what is the procedure to register for marriage, click here!

p/s: This place is hot…especially when you take photo under the sun! So, remember choose morning session else please put more sun block ^^ He he

3. Register Of Marriage Singapore

Register in Singapore is very fast and convenience because you can do the marriage application online! It really save you alot time. After your e-filing successful, you will just need to attend the solemnization either at outside or registry office. I heard that the marriage cert is look better than Malaysia one and of course is written in English . Register here, save alot trouble, right…About the fees for ROM…if not mistaken, it only costs SGD26..You will need to check it out from the website..all the information about register of marriage, sure you can find from the website. One good thing to register here is more choices of time. The office is opened for the solemization ceremony on weekend as well as weekday after 6 pm if not mistaken .

Besides the 3 places, you can also do the solemnization in hotel, beaches and etc which included with a high tea buffet as well. Actually if I was affordable, I will go for this But I am not Hehe ^^ 
p/s: For Malaysian who register in Singapore, you are required to go back Malaysia JPN office to inform them ; For Malaysian (with SG PR holder) who register in Malaysia, you are required to inform Singapore government office too
